"Everything's better when we're travelling together"."
Introduction
As an entrepreneur, who owns and manages my own business, I find myself to be a seasoned leader in the travel and tourism industry in Cape Town, South Africa.
My business was registered in 2019 as a certified Tourist Guide by WESGRO, the official tourism trade, investment promotion agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape.
I am a go getter and will describe my experience as "doing it for myself and to work smart and not hard.
I am motivated and driven not by money, but by making a difference in someone else's life.
Vision
To form partnerships with like-minded service providers in the industry, especially in and around Cape Town. In tourism I have acknowledged that in the absence of healthy local community development that my business would not be sustainable, let alone responsible if I have not created a model in the business to uplift local communities at grass roots level, [specifically rural communities].
Mission
Tourism is in my blood and I am very passionate about show casing beautiful Cape Town and its surrounds, and South Africa to visitors. Tourism is about cultivating a mindset to believe that your basic qualities and traits can grow and improve if you travel with BAZ.
Goal 1
My ultimate goal is to cultivate a mindset to believe that basic qualities and traits can grow and improve if one allows oneself to travel. I recognise myself as an ambassador for Cape Town who will showcase the city to both local and international travellers to the city as one of those places that your feet may leave but your heart will stay behind. Ultimately, I would want to build partnerships with like-minded service providers in travel and tourism to become enablers that support my strategy in creating a model in the travel and tourism business to uplift local communities by creating equitable assistance and developing these communities at grassroots level, specifically in rural communities.
Goal 2
I am proud to admit that 50% of my strategic goals aligned to my five-year plan has been met.
This includes:
- Economic Development and growing my business
- Building a network with fellow tourist guides and travel professionals
- Collaborating with like-minded people and service providers.
Schedule
Due to the devastating impact Covid-19 had on tourism around the world, it was hard to earn a living during that time. The business struggled and due to the relief application submitted to government, I have never received any positive feedback, neither monitory or otherwise. Government funding is very far and few between and I don't have a clear understanding thereof to execute or have an opinion.
"Believe in the magic of the season."
Organisation & Management
I am resourceful, dedicated and hard working with outstanding administrative and organisational skills and the proven ability to develop and implement effective new systems and procedures to run a successful business. I can work well both independently and as part of a productive team who demonstrates, motivate and multitask if required to meet demanding deadlines while maintaining the highest standards.
Activity
As an entrepreneur who created a new business; I create, deliver and capture value in the economic, social and cultural contexts of my business models.
I was very tenacious as I embarked on alternative economic business ventures which includes but is not limited to:
- Business Management
- Tourist Guiding and Operations
- Wine Agent
- Events Coordinator [i.e. CPO - Cape Philharmonic Orchestra]
- Motivator and Role Model
